“The man of God” is trash

A young man gets abused and severely beaten for his “rogue” ways and vows to never go back home once he gets the opportunity. He gets the opportunity and he does exactly that; he achieves various levels of success but he eventually goes to prison — just the perfect way to preach the Gospel? Once you don’t do the “will” of God, destruction is your end. Why this in itself is arguable on many fronts but do we times consider other underlying factors even when a believer goes rogue?

Let’s zoom out; Samuel never cared so much for Christianity and the consistent lashes of the cane only made him want to run farther. As a young man; he had talents; potential and the slaps didn’t convince him to want to use them for the gospel either. Maybe change strategy; have a heart to heart convos with him?

Joy: his perfect opportunity to the light; left without any explanation nor courtesy. Like is this how Christ taught us? How about the hypocrisy of the church? Assuming that some people can never be saved so cutting them off and deploying resources to the people out there?

Teju: obviously always wanted Sam; was ready to be with him: whatever it takes but Sam didn’t want her. She kept “pushing” him towards Christianity- got married to a man that wasn’t thoroughly convinced of God; so when he said God called him — it was all she had been waiting for! *smh

Minister Sammy eventually goes to prison; gets dropped off in a jeep looking tattered; goes back to Church and the movie ends there?!

What happens next? Does he gets “properly” groomed back into the fellowship — remember he never gave a damn even as a child so you can’t tell me Sam is now filled with the spirit and all doing miracles. Well if that happens it goes further to affirm my conviction that the movie “the man of God” is trash.

The movie in itself might have painted a possible reality and honestly, that reality would be totally messed up.

Also, did you see the clothes Sammy was rocking at his performances while in Uni? Only his room looked broke — he didn’t; even though they did a great job in making Reks hint that the gigs don’t bring in money and yeah, I intentionally left Reks out of this whole matter.

There is a way that seems right to a man but the end thereof is destruction — Proverbs 14:12
