Show and Tell

I had planned to mock myself during standups today about my ‘failed’ content creation career as I like to put it — what followed was encouragement from my team members on how they they think I can still make things works.

In a surprising turn of events, I ran into

— fellow writer over here on Medium at the workspace I used today and he mentioned how I haven’t written in a while — it’s been a crazy Q1 I said.

I am talking to a couple of people about some of the projects I have worked on in the past 4–5years so I bring out my laptop to finally work on my slides; LinkedIn was still open so I thought why not check it before getting to work and I got the most wholesome message —

dropped a message about some of the works I did in the past 3 to 4 years and how he found them motivating and inspiring, his growth was also amazing to see.

When I first started creating content (videos, articles) — I didn’t exactly plan to inspire anybody. For articles, I wanted a way to document my life and my experiences. For videos — I wanted to give back to the community because my programming career is basically built on free resources.

Finally, and probably on related — I have spent the 4 to 5 years doing my best to give back first through web boss, and then through other faces of tech. While supporting the tech community will always be something I am passionate about, I think these unique experiences have afforded me the opportunity to build a business and even so find a way to generate revenue from it; like I told Ife — my cofounder at Other Faces of Tech. The next venture we run has to be a revenue generating one.

I hope in the next couple of years, I am able to ‘Show’ you about everything I have ‘told' you.
